Beauty Haul #01

I've always been a make up fan but since blogging i've become far more intertwined in beauty community. I'm always on the look out for what other bloggers are loving or keeping an eye out for myself, in the drugstore, for new releases. So, while i was at home i took a little time out and did some shopping.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer | I've been looking at the Healthy Mix Foundation for a while, but i'm not really a foundation kinda gal so i thought i'd give the concealer a go. I really like this product, the consistency is creamy and it applies well. It has good coverage however it's not what i'm used to on my oily/combination skin. I would say it's definitely more suited for drier skins, i much prefer a more matte looking concealer but on the whole this is a lovely concealer.

Vivo Eyeliner in Medium Brown | This is really nice eyeliner, it applies really smoothly and it's quite a soft consistency. I would say it's more of a light brown than a medium, but it can be built up. The pigment is amazing but it is a lovely looking colour. I love the addition of the smudger on the other end, it's great for smudging out the colour but the more you smudge the less the colour does show up. It's great for using with other eyeliners too, so a nice product overall.

Seventeen Stay Time Concealer | This is the new baby sister to my usual concealer of choice. My usual Seventeen Hide Away concealer just isn't great for my oily/combination skin; the formulation is nice but it just didn't stick around all day. This is where Stay Time comes in, it's practically the same concealer but my goodness does it stay where i want it to. I'm much happier with this colour match too, even though i use fair in both, this just seems to be that much less orange toned.

Collection 2000 Cream Puff Lip Cream in Cotton Candy | I've been wanting to try these for a long time, but have never found this colour in the drugstore before. Out of the three colours that were on offer to me, this most suited my skin tone. I love the mauve, dusty rose kind of pink and the consistency is super creamy. It applies really nicely but it does seem to be a little drying. I would say it has an almost matte finish so wouldn't advise it for people with dry lips, it does cling to any broken skin.

Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipstick in Roasted Red | I love red lipstick but have just never found one that i'm confident enough to rock. I'm much more of a lip butters and balm kind of gal than your full on pigmented lip colour. I've used a few of the Mirror Shine lipsticks before and loved the formulation as they're very glossy and not drying in the slightest, so since they've repackaged them i thought i'd pick up one of the new colours. This is a gorgeous true, Hollywood red and it's beautiful. It applies beautifully and although it's not thick with colour it's also not drying or too opaque, it's just gorgeous. I highly recommend these lipsticks, they're some of my favourite.

Natural Collection Eye Liner in Soft Brown | This is another brown eyeliner i've been testing, as i'm trying to find one that i love for Summer. This one is a little harder in formulation but still buttery smooth and glides on the eye with little to no tugging. It's darker in colour than the Vivo liner which i do like and it definitely sticks around, it's not waterproof but it certainly lasts.

So, there are my new picks. What are you loving at the moment?

#OOTD Midi Dress

Dress: New Look | Cardigan: H&M | Scarf: H&M | Tights: Primark | Shoes: Converse | Necklace: Rock N Rose

So now, supposedly, Spring has sprung it's time to start layering down. Frankly, i'm getting bored of wearing jumpers and coats.

One of my favourite types of clothing to take from Winter, to Spring, through to Summer and even Autumn is the bodycon midi dress. They're so incredibly versatile, and can be layered or worn on their own to suit the ever changing British weather. Here, it was a bit of a chilly day so under my cardigan i'm actually wearing a long sleeved top. You would never know under a jacket or a cardigan, so it's an easily warmed up outfit. They're made out of a stretchy jersey material, so they're super comfortable and really breathable for the warmer months.

I love the bold pattern of this number and it's great for adding a pop of colour to. I love pairing my converse with this dress, it looks casual but smart. When it comes to the Spring and Summer, i want to look nice but i just want to be comfortable and this is the perfect style of outfit for that.

Goodbye GFC!

So, while i was taking my blogging break it was announced that Google Friend Connect would be removed from all non-blogging accounts from the 1st March 2013. There's now been an update that from 1st July it looks like GFC will be removed from all blogs too. Now, who's to say whether it's true or just another circulating rumour, but if that is the things to come then i just wanted to let you all know that you can follow Legs Eleven on Bloglovin' too. I've made it easy and all you have to do is click the little blue button in my sidebar and it'll take you to where you can choose to follow Legs Eleven.

Thanks for stopping by!

Battle of the Cream Shadows

You know when you leave it too late to get ready before you're going out somewhere, or you spontaneously decide to do something with your friends and you just haven't quite got the time to go all out with your shadows and blending and everything else that goes along preparing for a night out. When all else fails, i go for the cream shadows. They're easy, they blend almost instantly, they come in a multitude of gorgeous shades; what's not to love?

Here i'm going through the pros and cons of three cream eyeshadows that i own, and tell you why i love or hate that.

Seventeen Wild Metallics Cream Eyeshadow in Wild Nude: £3.99 | This is the newest addition to my cream eyeshadow family, and i would have to describe this as more of a mousse than a cream shadow. It's very soft, and fluffy and rather than being able to swirl your finger around in the pot, like you would a cream shadow, you need to be careful because you could easily push your finger right to the bottom of the pot. It's very creamy in consistency which helps the product to beautifully, either on it's own or with another eyeshadow. The colour is gorgeous, it's the perfect nude, not too bronzey and still light & bright. I would really recommend this product, especially for the amazing drugstore price.

Maybelline Expression Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze: £4.99 | This is the American version of the Color Tattoos, if you're looking for this shade in the UK i believe it's called On & On Bronze. These are an amazing product and were one of the first drugstore cream shadows on the market. They're beautifully smooth and create a great wash of colour but have really great pigmentation. These are also really great as an eyeshadow base for layering your powder eyeshadows, i find this shade great for pairing with the naked palette. This is also really great value for money, and is totally worth the price point.

Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten: £13.00 | I bought this product with some Christmas money after hearing every blogger, youtuber and their cat raving about it. The colour is beautiful and like nothing i had seen before, i even prefer it to some of the highlight colours in the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. When looking in Boots, i was faced with whether i wanted to opt for the cream or powder shadow, and because of the reason i explained in the opening to the post i went for the cream and now very much regret it. I've had this product for about 2 to 3 months and it's already drying out, which for £13 is really not good enough. Also, when i open the pot somehow, and i have no idea where from, there's a sticky substance around the rim. It's horrible and gets all over my fingers every time i open it, and when i've tried to clean it off it just doesn't budge. For this price point, i am not impressed with this product and wish i'd gone for the powder option.

So, here are my cream shadow picks. Do you have any must haves for me?

What's on my Face?

I'm back again with what's on my face! I've seen these types of videos on youtube, and they've floated into the blogasphere, so i thought i'd jump on the bandwagon.

What i use every day is pretty simple, and there isn't much to it but i'm considering bumping up my skin make up because of some serious bad skin at the moment.

Good Things Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser | This is my holy grail moisturiser. I apply this every day before i apply my make up; i wait a few minutes between applying this and putting on my make up. It totally mattifies my skin, leaving a great base. I have oily/combination skin and this is just perfect for my skin type, i've got a new Nivea mattifying moisturiser to try in the pipeline, but it's got to be mind blowing for me to love it more than this.

Collection 2000 Extreme Coloured Length Mascara in Black | This mascara is used only on my bottom lashes. As you'll see in a minute, i love a fat wand for my upper eyelashes and that doesn't translate well for the bottom. It smudges under my eyes and i can't catch all the dinky lashes with such a large wand. So, i wasn't going to fork out for a tiny brushed bottom lash mascara, like Clinique's, and i'm not asking for much - just to make them darker and not clumpy, and this does exactly that. What more can i say, it does the job and it's really inexpensive.

Garnier Caffeine Anti-Dark Circles 2-in-1 Roll on in 01 Extra Fair | After i've applied my moisturiser, and let that settle in, this is my next step. I apply this under my eyes, under my concealer, to try and brighten my under eye area. I'm plagued with dark circle, no matter how much sleep i get - although i'm a notoriously bad sleeper. It's a lovely, creamy consistency and blends in really well. I'm currently using 01 Extra Fair but i've got 02 Fair ready to use, as my back up, because i think that'll be a better match for me. This is really, really fair and although it brightens because it's so light it's also quite sheer, so i think Fair will be closer to my skin colour and should give a little better coverage.

Seventeen Hide Away Concealer Cream in Fair | This is currently what i use as my base make up. I don't use foundation, unless for a special occasion or i want more coverage - and in that instance i use the Bourjois Healthy Mix or Healthy Mix Serum Foundation that every blogger and their cat raves about. I'm considering adding that into my everyday routine as this concealer just doesn't give me enough coverage, or lasting power, to cover my bouts of bad skin which are frequent. I've actually just tried the new Seventeen concealer call Stay Time and i much prefer it to this. The colour match is better and it has much better staying power than this one, so i'd probably recommend that more. Both have a lovely, creamy consistency but the Hide Away stays quite wet, and dewy whereas the Stay Time dries probably a little more matte and stays on the skin a lot better.

Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara in Superjet Black | This is my baby, my holy grail mascara. I could not be without this mascara, it does wonders for my lashes. I used to be addicted to the Benefit Bad Gal Mascara but as the price slowly creeped up and is now nearly £18, i just cannot justify it. This, my friends, is almost an exact dupe for that mascara. It does exactly the same thing for my lashes and the wands look almost identical. It creates volume, and lift, as well as length and there are no clumps. The ideal mascara, if you ask me. Now, it's still pricey at £10 but it's definitely a more affordable habit than benefit, that's for sure.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm | This is the only thing that can combat, and heal, my dry, cracked, Winter lips. It's so soothing and creates that tingly sensation when you apply it, which i really like. It's minty so really refreshing, and i honestly cannot praise it enough.

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom and Rose | Now, because i love the original Burt's Bees Lip Balm so much my mum bought me these for Christmas and i fell in love. When i want a little bit of colour these are the perfect splash. Sometimes i think my lips can look kind of dead because they're very similar colour to my skin tone, so these just help combat that. They're both really subtle and just add a wash of colour, but they still have all the great moisturising properties of the original balm. Perfect.

Boots Eyelash Curler | I'm not at all fussy about what kind, brand or sort of eyelash curler that i have, but curling my lashes is a must every day and it just adds that pop with my Soap & Glory mascara. I'd honestly recommend giving curling a go if you're looking for something more from your lashes, go on give it a go.

So, that's what's on your face - what's on yours?

So, today i turn the big two one! I honestly can't believe i'm 21 today; where does time go?! Well, i'm going to be enjoying my day down at the Harry Potter Studio Tour at the Leavesden Studios. I'm super excited, but it'll be an early start so i'm saving all my lovely gifts for later.
